After Diablo was defeated, the Hero embedded the Soulstone of the Lord of Terror into his forehead, hoping he will be able to master the daemon. The body of prince Albrecht retrieved its natural look and was buried in vault near the Cathedral. As the time went by, the Hero stared to feel that he is loosing the fight with the overtaking demonic force, which started to gradually make its way into his soul. Through the possessed body of the Hero, Diablo, The Lord of Terror, went east across the mighty deserts of Aranoch, which surround the ancient city of Lut Gholein, to get to the found of hell at the end, his domain, where a frightening army has already started to gather.
Terror returned once again to Tristram. Diablo, in his revenge, summoned hordes of daemons. They raided the town and destroyed it completely.
Despite the crushing power of the Prime Evil, pure will of mankind was underestimated. Many Necromants, Amazons, Palladins, Sorcerers and Barbarians all around the world stood against the evil. Diablo, Mephisto and Baal were slaughtered once again. Archangel Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone, which fell into distortion. Effects of this are unpredicted.
After this tragedy Tristram was rebuilt, yet people still remember the evil that once was born in the old Cathedrall
There was an earth quake one day in Tristram, and hell abyss opened near the vault of prince Albrecht. Not long time after, terrible creaters began to appear on the cemetery. Many warriors, who fought against The Dark Trinity, came to settle down in Tristram, they withstood the terrible creatures with courage.
The essence of Diablo was reborn in the vault of prince Albrecht. People started to hear screams coming out of the Cathedral, and the Church itself started to emanate Terror.
